If you want to knit along with me , here will be the patterns I use for my knitted blanket.

If you are a total beginner start here. Hobby Lobby have posted a great video showing how to start.

This video also shows the two basic patterns which I'm working with myself in the moment. Purl stitch and knit stitch.
The amount of stitches and rows obviously will depend on the kind of woll and size of needles you are using.
The squares I knit are all 12x 12 cm in size, but you can adjust that as you wish.
As it's going to be a reversible blanket I knit 1 square for the front and another for the back, which will be stitched together.
Week 1 and 2 : So far I have 2 knit, 2 purl, and 2 stocking stitch squares. From these videos below you can create a number of different patterns. So these are the basics you need.

Week 2 and 3:
Week 2 part 2 is another 2 squares in Stocking stitch...however, it looks completely different as we use a fluffy yarn.
Week3 part 1 :
Using knit and purl again.
This time each row 2 purl, 1 knit, 2 purl , 1 knit and so on.
You end up with a nice ribbed texture for your square.

Week 3 part 2:
Double Moss Stitch
You can find the rest of the squares and patterns here : http://creacrafts.com/index
